Journey so far ..

The journey that we started back in April 2013 has been a great learning experience. It has provided us with an opportunity to make a difference in the life of the children that we adopted but more importantly it has helped us take steps towards devising systems that could help shape the future of coming generations. The biggest gap that we have always wanted to address is the precariously low levels of critical thinking and reasoning skills in the children. One of the main reasons for this which we quickly identified was the outdated curriculum that is being taught at government and low income private schools. This coupled with lack of proper teaching techniques and evaluation methods is creating an army of poorly educated and ignorant youth. This results in not only a further class divide, but we believe is also the root cause for numerous other issues that plague a third world country like Pakistan.

The focus of our energies in the past 3 years has been towards devising systems and techniques that would allow us to bridge this gap. Some of the ways that we have tackled these issues so far are:

  • Implementation of Oxford University curriculum
  • Language training to enable children to understand English medium syllabus
  • Extra learning activities such as games, critical writing, projects and presentations

This coupled with our monitoring and training techniques such as skype interaction with children and teachers from Canada has enabled us to show some very positive results. We have come to a point where through trial and error we have started to shape our next steps in this amazingly rewarding journey.

Congratulations to all the members and supporters of V R Heroes Foundation for a job well done so far.
